Acree Technologies started as a brainstorm back in the year 2000.
The owner, RJ Acree, Jr., was working for a small
Telecommunications Consulting Firm in Louisville, KY, when the
brainstorming started to take place. In the position of running the
Helpdesk at this company, Mr. Acree was always trying to do
things that would streamline the system and enable it to run more
efficiently, thus allowing for less administration. Though his ideas
were efficient, they were not always in agreement with his
superiors, which brought him to the thought of owning his own
business. He kept these thoughts to himself and continued to
further his education of server, network, and telephone system
administration. This continued until the end of 2001. The tragedy
of 9/11 caused a massive layoff in the world of technology. Due to
this, Mr. Acree’s thoughts of owning his own business were
temporarily placed on hold as his career took an unexpected
change in course from the world of technology to the world of
management.
Though his primary responsibility had changed from
technical to management, Mr. Acree continued to stay
current with technology while serving as a branch manager
for a courier service. Though his career change was
unexpected, being in management afforded him the
opportunity to learn the other side of the business. The
challenge was similar to technology but instead of setting
up servers, PCs, networks, and phone systems, he was
directly in charge of managing personnel consisting of 100
different personalities and getting them to peacefully and
productively work together.
Even in management he was always given the ability to test his
technical skills and apply them when needed to save money on
technology. Staying in house was the motto of the owner and
President of the courier service company that employed him.
While working within this company, Mr. Acree learned much
about the way a start up company was ran.
Nevertheless, the time came for the relationship to end with
the courier service and for Mr. Acree to get back to what was
true in his heart, technology. At this time, an opportunity
came about with a telephone system solutions company that
provides a full, in-house turnkey solution starting with
manufacturing, installation and support. Mr. Acree took a
position working in the Engineering department for the
primary solution, the Axxess. He was deployed, for reasons
of support, to a very high profile customer in the Louisville
market who employed the largest system installed and
maintained by the company. This project not only gave him
the ability to grow his technical knowledge in yet another
direction, but it also gave him an opportunity to integrate
and utilize both his technical and management skills. It was
the integration of these skills that enabled Mr. Acree to
provide a much-needed solution in the ever-changing world
of technology.
After honing his skills once again with the new and current
technology, Mr. Acree saw himself brainstorming about the idea
he originally had back in 2000. With that once again at the
forefront of his mind, he decided it was time for the brainstorm
to become a reality. In establishing Acree Technologies,
Mr. Acree’s primary goal is to provide quality technical service
to the individual and the small business, at a price they can
afford. In today’s world of technology, the ability to streamline
your current configuration at a reasonable cost is paramount to
the success of any small business owner and a welcome change
to the individual. With the ever-growing dependency of
